FreeMax is back with two new pod vapes, the Maxpod, and the Autopod50. The Autopod50 is much larger than the Maxpod, but it has more battery life, more power output, and features a more rugged body design and more power pushing lower resistance coils for DTL vape.
The FreeMax Autopod50 Pod Mod powered by a large 2000mAh built-in battery fires up to 50W. It uses the world’s first double mesh coil pod with the next generation of mesh coil technology. As FreeMax claimed, you even can achieve a DTL hit that equals a sub-ohm tank. The Autopod50 is button-activated and comes with two sub-ohm coils which adopt the unique tea fiber cotton instead of steel for a fresh taste.
FreeMax founded in 2013 is a popular vape manufacturer that has released a number of top-rated sub-ohm tanks and pod vapes over the years including the Fireluke series and FreeMax Twister. I have to admit I am a fan of FreeMax. The Mesh Pro, Fireluke M, and Fireluke TX are my favorites for sub-ohm vaping. I have reviewed Maxpod and was really impressed with its pure crispy flavor, so I had high expectations for the Autopod50. As always, I will give my honest opinion based upon the experiences I have encountered with the Freemax Autopod50 Kit.

Build Quality and Design of FreeMax Autopod50
The FreeMax Autopod50 made of sturdy and solid metal is a good-looking pod mod. The mod is sleek and features curved sides and very nice contours around its edges, providing a smooth and ergonomic grip. The finishing is immaculate with a groovy reflective quality that elevates the look and provides a nice hand feel. However, it takes seconds for those fingerprints to appear. The Autopod50 is shorter than the Maxpod but much heavier and thicker. It measures 94mm x 43.5mm x 24.5mm and weighs 151.5g, which fits the palm nicely and is pocket-friendly and concealable. The Autopod50 looks premium and feels hefty in hands due to a larger battery. The branding FreeMax is printed on one side of the device.
Looking into the top of the mod where the pod sits, you will see two gold-plated springy contact points and two strong plastic covered magnets. When the pod is placed within the device there is a reassuring snap. The sloped design allows you to view the juice level conveniently. There is 9 battery venting on the underside together with a Type-C USB port. The silver fire button placed above the main screen feels tactile and clicky. The small screen in black and white displays your vaping data. The two adjustment buttons are very responsive and work very well indeed. There was no rattling or movement from the buttons. So all good stuff, it was a dinky powerful device!
FreeMax Autopod50 Pod Cartridge
The FreeMax Autopod50 kit comes with a 4ml refillable pod, a 0.25ohm AX2 Mesh coil, and a 0.5ohm AX2 Mesh coil. The pod is held in place firmly with two strong magnets. You can take the pod out from the mod easily by lifting the air slot. The round mouthpiece mimics that of a standard 510 drip tip and is non-removable so you won’t be swapping it for others. It fits lips nicely and comfortably. The pod made of food-grade PCTG feels strong and solid, which can withstand rough handling. It is dark-tinted to prevent UV rays from changing the chemical properties of nicotine. I can view the juice level clearly in a bright place.
Looking at the base of the pod, there is a bottom-filling port sealed with a silicone plug that can accommodate most of the pipette droppers. The bottom airflow control ring provides different vaping experience. The plug and play coil installation method is very convenient.
How to Fill the FreeMax Autopod50 Pod:
- Prime the coil with a few drops of e-liquid
- Remove the pod from the device by lifting the air slot
- Gently remove the silicone plug with your fingernail to reveal the filling port
- Carefully add your favorite e-liquid
- Replace the silicone plug then position the pod into the device
- Wait at least 5min to get the cotton fully saturated to prevent a dry hit

With a 2000mAh large built-in battery, you can get at least a day of regular vaping. The advanced chipset allows for firing from 5W to 50W at an ultra-fast firing time of 0.015s. The stable 3.3V voltage output gives higher consistency of flavor. The Type-C cord with 2A rate charges the mod in a mere 80min. The screen is small but bright with pin-sharp text and numerals. It displays the current wattage, battery life, resistance, voltage, puff timer, and puff counter. Let’s take a look at what it’s showing us and how the device works.

Performance of FreeMax Autopod50 Pod Mod Kit
The new coils utilize the COILTECH 4.0, the latest generation of mesh coil technology from FreeMax, are supposed to provide a great DTL draw. The coil lifespan is greatly prolonged, which gives you 30 - 40 refills.
I started the flavor and cloud production tests on the 0.25ohm coils rated for 30W - 50W. It has the best power output of 40W which is how I vaped. I used Dinner Lady Apple Sour, mixed sweet crisp Granny Smith apples with a tangy sour punch finish, which is a 70VG/30PG ratio with 3mg nicotine.
The flavor from the sour green apple was replicated very well. the draw is a bit warm and the cloud production is massive. There may no difference to that of your average sub-ohm tank. Pushing the wattage to the maximum 50W, the flavor kicked hard and vape gets warmer. Very satisfying! There is no dry hit during the testing period. The Autopod50 gives a good representation of the vape juice and provides quality and satisfying vapor.
FreeMax Autopod50 Pod Mod Kit Review
The FreeMax Autopod50 kit is a powerful and portable device. The battery life is substantial for the power it pushes. The new dual-mesh coils are satisfying, bringing a great DTL vape. The buttons and a simple menu system are easy to operate. The 4ml refillable pod made of high-quality PCTG is well-built. I favor the side filling system over the bottom fill. The flavor and cloud are great. I have had no issues. If you are looking for a portable DTL device, I am comfortable in recommending this device. Are you planning to buy the FreeMax Autopod50?
