Uwell Nunchaku 2 Vape Pen Review: Compact 21700 Vape Device [2020]

Author: Alisa Yin / Category: Review / Published: Apr-13-2020

The Uwell Nunchaku 2 was finally released in November 2019, which offers a lot of improvements while keeping a similar profile to the original Nunchaku Vape Pen. The great new feature of the Nunchaku 2 mod is the ability to use the main batteries used in vaping with the 18650, the 20700 and the 21700. The original Uwell Nunchaku only allows for the 18650 battery, which has limited battery life. The bigger battery also means the higher maximum output with the 21700 at 100W. The Nunchaku 2 has the variable wattage mode, TCR mode, and a bypass mode. It is quite a versatile vape pen and given its ergonomic shape and streamlined body for a comfortable grip. The 5ml new sub-ohm tank with 2 mesh coil options is specially designed for DTL vapers.

Build Quality and Design of Uwell Nunchaku 2

The name of the Uwell Nunchaku series comes from the shape of the handle on Nunchaku weapons. The Uwell Nunchaku 2 mimics the original design to its predecessor, which has a pen-style shape and bubble glass on the top of the device. Measuring at 100mm x 29.9mm x 29.9mm, the Nunchaku 2 is a little bit bigger than the original Nunchaku to accommodate the 21700 battery. It weighs at 141g, which is quite heavier than other vape pens on the market. Made of durable stainless steel with a shiny mirror finish, it looks elegant and is dustproof and moistureproof. The curved and sleek middle fits nicely and comfortably in your hand.

The screen positioned near the top of the mod is tiny and bright. The black and round fire button right under the screen are responsive and tactile. The adjustment buttons have been removed. Everything is done via the single fire button and an internal gyroscope. The micro-USB charging port on the top of the device features 2A fast charge rate. The battery door is at the base of the mod.

The 510 connector is 25mm in diameter. The threads are smooth and clean, which are the part of the mod. The top plate is slightly tapered. So the 25mm tank is the largest one you can use with Nunchaku 2 mod. The Nunchaku 2 sub-ohm tank is super shiny. It comes with a 510 drip tip that is comfortable between lips. The screw-top refill system with a cap is easy to use without leaking.

Uwell Nunchaku 2 Mod

The Uwell Nunchaku 2 Mod can accommodate 20700, 21700 batteries. The kit also comes with a battery sleeve to fit the 18650 battery. It can fire up to 100W with the 21700. There are no adjustment buttons. The Nunchaku 2 Mod features the internal MEMS gyroscope, allowing you to adjust the power output by tilting the device. The motion capture is in the 6 axis. You can tilt the device horizontally for a faster increase or incline slightly for a gradual rise. The motion sensors are innovative and modern, but it may be a little bit difficult to select an optimal wattage/temperature due to fast scrolling. I still prefer to use the traditional adjustment buttons.

There are three modes - variable wattage mode, TCR mode, and Mechanical mode. The Nunchaku 2 allows you to set the wattage in TCR mode. Tilt to your desired wattage (the SS316L coil work best at 60 - 65W) and press the fire button to confirm. The tiny screen displays the wattage, mode, coil resistance, and battery life. Here is the quick guide of the Uwell Nunchaku 2 Mod.

Quick Guide of Uwell Nunchaku 2

  • Click the fire button five times to turn on or turn off the device
  • Press and hold the fire button to vape
  • Tilt the mod to the left to decrease wattage, to the right to increase the wattage
  • Press the fire button 3 times to enter into the main menu
  • Press and hold the fire button to exit the main menu
  • In the main menu, tilt left or right to cycle through the three modes, press the fire button to select a mode: Power mode (Variable wattage), TCR Mode (Temperature control) and Mech Mode (bypass)

Uwell Nunchaku 2 Tank

The Uwell Nunchaku 2 Tank made of stainless steel, holds 5ml of e-liquid and comes with pre-installed bubble glass. The color of the tank matches with the Nunchaku 2 mod. The top cap with a silicone membrane can effectively prevent leaking. You can easily remove it with a quarter turn. The filling port is generous that can accommodate different types of juice bottles. The 510 drip tip is comfortable to use.

There are three medium-sized airflow slots on the base of the tank. You can adjust the airflow through the adjustment ring even when the tank is installed onto the mod. Fully open airflow gives the same restriction as to the original tank. Fully closed, there is no airflow.

There are two different coils in the kit - a 0.2ohm Kanthal Mesh coil and a 0.14ohm SS316L Mesh coil. Both of them feature a honeycomb mesh structure for even and fast heating up. These coils press-fit into the tank without screwing. They are compatible with the original Nunchaku and the original Nunny coils are also can be used with this new tank.

The 0.2ohm coil rated for 50 - 60W can only be used with wattage mode. It vaporizes the 50/50 or high VG juice well without dry hits. The flavor is pure and concentrated like you are drinking the e-liquid. The vapor is decent that will not disappoint you. You will get a perfect balance between clouds and flavor. The 0.14ohn stainless steel 316 Mesh coil rated for 50 - 60W is suitable for both wattage mode and TCR mode. It can produce more vapor compared to the 0.2ohm coil and you will get a very warm vape with a strong throat hit. Both of the coils can vaporize the 80VG/20PG e-liquid perfectly without a dry hit. You will get a great DTL vape experience.

Uwell Nunchaku 2 Vape Pen Review

The Uwell Nunchaku 2 Vape Pen is an exquisite and portable device for DTL vaper. It has many effective improvements compared to the original Nunchaku. It is larger than its predecessor and feels hefty in hands. Driven by the 18650 or 20700 or 21700 battery, the Nunchaku 2 goes from 5W to 100W and features variable wattage, TCR mode, and mech mode. The motion capture design is innovative but not very useful. The 0.2ohm and 0.14ohm coils feature the mesh structure, giving you full of flavor and huge clouds. If you are looking for a versatile DTL vape pen, the Nunchaku 2 will be a great option. If you want more battery life and power output, you can view the Vaporesso Target PM80.
