[2020 Newest] Vaporesso Gen S Kit Review: With GT Meshed Coils

The Vaporesso Gen S Kit, as the name tells you is the latest follow up version of the immensely popular Gen of 2019. It is almost identical in size of the original Gen and packs the brand new 8ml NRG-S tank along with upgraded meshed GT coil series for sub-ohm vaping. Powered by dual-18650 batteries with the advanced Axon chipset, the Gen S can power up to 220W and features a full set of vaping modes from Smart TC, VW modes to Power Eco, Pulse Mode, and DIY mode.

The parent company of Vaporesso, called SMOORE have over 13 year’s experience in the vaping industry for developing solid products. I think that would be a very valuable experience for Vaporesso. In the past few years, Vaporesso have released many reliable and high-performing devices like Luxe and Revenger, which have been one of the top vape mods for a while. Now I am going into this new Gen S review with high expectations. Could it be the kit we’ve all been waiting for? As always, I will give my honest opinion on Vaporesso Gen S with a considerable testing period.

When I first saw Gen S, I liked its simple and clean design. The shape and size are almost identical to its predecessor. The Gen S is a compact rectangular mod with rounded off edges, which feels more like a single-cell AIO. It stands at 145.5mm with the tank attached, which fits your palm easily. It’s an average height for a box mod and is merely thicker than the 18650 batteries. The soft-touch four-layer coating provides a rubber-like tactile feel, making the Gen S comfortable to hold and less likely to slip out of your hand. I just like to keep stroking the paint because it feels so great. Made of zinc-aluminum alloy, the Gen S is lightweight and solid. The mods come with five color options. The green one fading into yellow at the bottom is my favorite.

Looking at the top of the mod, you will find a centered gold-plated 510 connection that will hold up to 26mm atomizers with no overhang. The branding is discreet with a small gold ‘Vaporesso’ in the middle of one side, and a ‘V’ logo on the bottom center of the other side. The large fire button and the adjustment buttons are well placed on the front of the Mod. They are responsive and clicky. The 0.91-inch OLED screen is clear and easy to read even in the sunlight. On the bottom of the mod, you will see a small notch to pull away the battery door as well as battery venting holes. The rear panel held securely in place by magnets, comes off to reveal the spring-loaded battery tray. There’s also a ribbon for battery removal.

The overall design and build quality of the Vaporesso Gen S is simply superb and damn-near flawless. I have no complaints.

The Vaporesso Gen S comes with the NRG-S sub-ohm tank that features two coils as well as a 5 ml glass tube. The NRG-S is a new member of the Vaporesso NRG range. It holds 8ml of e-liquid and looks nice with the Gen S mod. The NRG-S uses a convenient push-to-fill top cap. There is a tiny arrow that marks the position of the filling port. The filling port is wide that can accommodate most of the juice bottles so there are no issues with filling. The airflow control ring at the base of the tank is easy to adjust. The 'plug and play' coil installation manner is convenient and easy.

The kit comes with two coils for the NRG-S Tank:

• 0.15ohm GT4 Meshed coil (50-75W)
• 0.18ohm GT Meshed coil (50-85W)

Both of the GT coils use the latest mesh technology from Vaporesso to maximum the contact area for more concentrated flavor. The NRG-S tank is also compatible with all GT coil series including the GT1, GT2, GT4, GT6, GT8, GT CCELL, GT CCELL2, GT MESHED, GT4 MESHED. You will have a wide range of coil styles to choose from for different vaping experience.

The Vaporesso Gen S mod with Axon chipset is packed with many features and modes like most of their mods. You will have lots of choices but the amount of modes is a bit overbearing for beginners. The Gen S has Pulse Mode, Power Eco, and Smart TC mode, VW (soft, normal, hard), Temperature Control (SS, Ni200, Ti, and one memory slot), VV, Custom Wattage Curves, Bypass, and Super Player mode. The mods use a standard TCR, which is fully adjustable for all modes. Obviously, the functions of Vaporesso Gen S are complex. We will introduce some of their cool features out there.

The Pulse mode is supposed to pulse the power output every 0.02 seconds when you press the fire button. It gives you a hit at a constant high wattage for a more flavorful draw. In short, it makes the wattage go down and then up whenever you take a draw.

This is my favorite function. When the battery level reaches 40%, the Gen S will ask if you want to enter into the Eco Mode, which can help to get maximum battery life and remain power left in your batteries by optimizing your device. This mode is very handy especially when you are out.

As the name tells, the Super Player mode is for those low ohm builders out there. It allows you to install super-low builds.

The smart TC mode can automatically detect your coil and adjust the correct TC modes.

The DIY mode allows you to set your preferred temperature, wattage, voltage, or lets them in bypass, custom curves, or super player mode.

The menu system allows you to adjust the screen brightness, clear the puff counters, etc.

All of the functions, modes are accessed via 3 buttons - two adjustment buttons and a middle selection button. The screen displays important vaping information like wattage, coil resistance, puff counter, and recommended wattage. The Gen S will ask if it is a new or old load when you add an atomizer. If it is a new load, the device will scan to determine the ohm’s of the current coil head. The Type C at 2.5A provides an ultra-fast charging speed in 60min. You can access all features via the small OLED display.

• Five clicks of the fire button to turn on/off the device
• Three clicks of the fire button to lock or unlock the wattage
• Three clicks of the middle menu button to enter the main menu
• The DIY menu leads you to the user-controlled vaping styles (Variable Wattage, TC, Bypass)

I have really enjoyed testing the Vaporesso Gen S. Vaporesso did a good job with the design and styling while also ensuring top-level performance. I really like its clean and compact design. The hand feel is superb. The Axon chip works well. You will get a ton of nice and practical features and modes. The performance is good as we always expected from Vaporesso. The new NRG S tank holds 8ml of e-liquid and comes with a fair number of coil options.

It’s hard to complain about the Gen S. The functions are a bit complex for beginners. For me, it is exactly what a vape device should be like in 2020 - it looks nice, performs well, and has many innovative features. Are you planning to buy the Vaporesso Gen S?
